Cornish distiller Tarquin’s Gin has opened its first external funding round in 12 years, seeking £1 million via Crowdcube. The investment will drive US expansion and the rollout of Tinner Bros Whisky, following strong growth across its portfolio and ambitious plans to secure retail listings in Europe and America.
Cornish distiller Tarquin’s Gin has launched its first external funding round in 12 years, aiming to raise £1 million via Crowdcube to accelerate US expansion and support the rollout of its whisky brand, Tinner Bros. The move follows strong growth in both domestic and international markets.
Tarquin’s Gin, founded in 2012 by Tarquin Leadbetter and known formally as Southwestern Distillery, has until now been entirely self-funded. Over the past five years, the company has generated more than £45 million in sales, with consistent double-digit growth. In the year ending March 2026, revenue reached £9.56 million, marking a 15.5% increase year-on-year.
The distillery’s portfolio spans Tarquin’s Gin, Connie Glaze Vodka, Twin Fin rum, and the recently launched Tinner Bros Whisky, which achieved £1 million in sales in its debut year across five markets. The whisky, packaged in distinctive tin, is positioned to capitalise on the global flavoured whisky category, forecast to double in value to US$65 billion over the next decade.
In the US, Tarquin’s has seen more than 100% year-on-year growth across 20 states over the past two years. The brand is now targeting broader retail listings in New York, California, and Texas, alongside a direct-to-consumer launch across 40 states. Industry data projects the US gin market to expand from US$3.5 billion to US$5.3 billion by 2035, offering significant opportunity for the Cornish distiller.
The investment will also support supermarket listings and direct-to-consumer initiatives in seven European markets, strengthening Tarquin’s position in both gin and whisky categories. Early access registrations for the crowdfunding opened on 1 April, with the official launch set for 8 April via Crowdcube.
